Life Before Swoop
I grew up outside of Chicago and my love of the outdoors originated exploring the woods and lakes in Northern Wisconsin. I studied Spanish and Latin American studies at university which led to a career in adventure travel arranging custom trips to Central America. Throughout my early travels I developed a passion for photography.
My Polar Experience
My first polar trip was to the Antarctic Peninsula in November 2015. I have since returned to the Peninsula several times, both sailing and flying across the Drake. I have also been fortunate to visit the largest black browed albatross colony in the world in the Falklands and hike the historic Shackleton route from Fortuna Bay to Stromness on South Georgia. In the Arctic I have sailed through the pack ice in Spitsbergen searching for polar bears, seen the northern lights in the Canadian Arctic and explored the largest fjord system in the world in East Greenland. My most memorable polar moment was seeing a pod of Arnoux's beaked whales breach while kayaking through the brash ice along the Antarctic Peninsula.
Day to Day at Swoop
I am a polar specialist and love spending my days chatting about all the exciting voyages we offer. With so many ships and polar trips to choose from, I understand choosing a voyage can feel overwhelming. I am happy to use my first hand knowledge to assist in explaining the differences in the ships and voyages, as well as the expedition experience that each vessel offers.
