What was your most memorable moment?
There are so many! Kayaking is the only way to see Antarctica so, on the recommendation of Swoop, we signed up for the kayaking package. All our moments are literally in the water. So close to a swimming seal that we could touch him with our paddle (we didn't, of course). Penguins porpoising and keeping up with our strokes. The sound of lapping waves on our kayaks. Jumping from sea ice-to-sea ice that no person had ever walked on.

Tell us about the wildlife
Yes, beyond expectations! When this adorable penguine (who was entirely unaware of my presence) walked so close to me we locked eyes. Warmed my heart. Yes! Beyond my wildest expections. Our photos are AMAZING. Honestly, I didn't want to experience this wonderous area through a lense so I tried to balance photos-memories. This was Alex's recommendation and he was right!
Something Else?
This was an emotional experierence. An example. I had asked our kayak guide to allow us to stop and request that the team to be silent. I wanted to hear nothing. We heard nothing but lapping waves. I turned to our guide with tears and my eyes. It was one of the moments I will always remember. I'm tearing up now.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
If you are physically able, sign up for kayaking ASAP! If you can't, find another ship. Don't over-pack clothing. The ships are casual. No big ship! You want to touch land and the big ships can't do this everywhere. A ship with experts who give seminars and break bread with you is lovely!
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Yes! I've always been passionate about the environment and this reaffirmed my commitment. In addition, I am more aware of nature. I came across a bird in my yard, stopped and admired him for a few minutes. Lovely!
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
None...perfection! I do have photos but I need a little time sort them. We just returned yesterday!
