Ultra by name, ultra by nature. With its elegant lines, onboard helicopters, contemporary styling, spacious balconied cabins and the widest range of adventure activities, this ship is designed to impress and it certainly does.

Why we like this ship

  • Ultramarine offers the perfect combination of real comfort with the widest range of adventure activities
  • Every cabin benefits from oversized windows or private balconies, so you never miss the action outside
  • One of very few ships with onboard helicopters so guests can appreciate the unique perspective Antarctica from the air (please note available in selected locations only)
  • Optional adventure activities include kayaking, camping, heli-flightseeing and stand-up paddleboarding
  • Dedicated 'ready rooms' and multiple zodiac embarkation points mean there's no waiting to get on land

We think it's worth noting...

  • There's no hot tub onboard, but it has arguably the best sauna of any Antarctic ship – complete with huge picture windows

Before Ultramarine the chance to experience Antarctica from the air was strictly the preserve of private mega yachts; this ship is a game changer. The heli-flightseeing literally takes expeditions onboard to the next level!

Super ship overall In general we loved it. The Helicopter team were just outstanding - Neil, Johnny, Jimmy, Wes (and the others) - this is definitely the USP.

Traveling on the Ultramarine was the most epic and unforgettable experience. The expedition team is top notch and the service on the ship is exceptional. This ship had all the expedition activities you could ask for. We were able to get on zodiacs twice a day and signed up for kayaks as well. Lots of knowledge transfer during the voyage too and enjoyed the learning about birds, seals, whales and penguins. Plenty of food to fuel and cabins were well stocked with general toiletries. Loved the beds and pillows and the stabilizers helped make the ride smoother than expected. Read the full review

Terrific experience on this ship - the crew was knowledgeable - very safety oriented and willing to help with anything. The ship felt big enough but not too big. Appreciated Swoop's help selecting a cabin.

Great ship. By far the best room we have had on an expedition cruise. The dining room facilitated meeting new people with some larger tables. It was also very efficient at loading and unloading zodiacs as well as getting people on and off the zodiacs. We had only one short helicopter ride but it was great. Read the full review

Accommodations, food, layout and amenities - including access to ready room and zodiacs - on the Ultramarine were exceptional. The fact that the ship was purpose-built to accommodate zodiacs and kayak/paddleboard launches as well as helicopter rides really makes it the standard for all other vessels to aspire to. Would absolutely choose this ship again and recommend it to others. Read the full review

Our ship was magnificent and the crew and expedition team were top-notch. We looked forward to every opportunity for education and exploration and were never disappointed. Excursions on zodiacs, paddleboards, and the helicopter exceeded expectations every time, and we learned so much from the glaciologist, biologist, ornithologist, historian and other research team members on board who gave talks and led our hikes and explorations into the landscape. Well built. New. Well appointed. Spacious cabins. Only negative comment is the lecture room should have been built so those not in the first row could see more than the upper part of the screen. The chairs were very comfortable. Read the full review
