Customer Rating On return from their adventure we ask customers: “On a scale of 0-10, with 10 being the highest, how likely is it that you would recommend Swoop to a friend or colleague?”

Robin's Trip Date:

12th Feb - 29th Feb 2020

What was your most memorable moment?

Paddling in Fournier Bay surrounded by humpback whales. There were blows everywhere. There were whales trumpeting. Two sleeping whales floated to the raft of kayaks and then veered off in a quick turn with flipper up and were about 10 meters from us. We could smell their breath.

Which of the following best describes your adventure?

Great holiday

On a scale of 0 to 10, how likely is it that you would recommend Swoop to a friend or colleague?

Tell us about the wildlife

We were in Whale season. Excellent many many humpbacks. Lots of penguins, all immature waiting to take to the sea. Not as many Albatros as I had hoped. Tragedy of the long line.

Tell us about the Kayaking

Fantastic. Highly recommend. Great guides, great gear. Just do it.

Something Else?

The hotel staff onboard the vessel were extremely health conscious and kind. They knew everyone's name by day 1.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

Save your money and take as long a trip as possible. Spend some time in Tierra del Fuego. Ashuaia ( you will learn how to pronounce after a bit) is lovely small city . The people are wonderful. Take a medium sized vessel.

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

Tough to say. Love nature, love the planet, know everything is at risk and have to say returned to COVID19 that had happened in Europe and the US while we were gone. Hard to ignore that. We were likely the second to last group to travel. But that being said, the urge to protect and preserve is even more emblazoned in my heart.

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

None, try to tell folks a little more what to take. Hands will get cold, torso not so much with base layer and mid layer. Which ships are very casual on board.
