Overall, how was your trip?

South Georgia was fantastic. Seeing the sheer volume of wildlife was incredible. It's frightening to think of the effects of global warming are having there. We had excellent weather. Only 2 landings were revised. Going early in the season gave us pristine snowy landscapes. We had the unique opportunity to see a lone emperor penguin. Getting out onto the ice flat and so close to massive ice bergs was fantastic. It was a friendly group of European travellers for the most part. I've discovery that I'm not so great on the open seas.

In one sentence, what did you think of Antarctica? Did it live up to your expectations?

It was awe inspiring to see this unique part of the world.

Would you visit again?

Yes

How was the service that Swoop provided?

I appreciated Loli's knowledge in answering questions about the trip. She suggested buying shampoo and lotion at the Departure town instead of bringing it from home in our luggage. I had done my own research ahead of time so I knew which ship and voyage I wanted to take. We made sure to be early for embarkation so we were the first ones on the ship. This way, we were able to choose the bottom births in the quad cabin. I wish I would have stayed in town a bit longer to take a picture of the fin del mundo sign in Ushuaia instead of taking the shuttle directly to the airport. I recommend bringing some 3M command hooks for the cabin. A pair of TEVAs was also helpful.

You chose a/an Falklands, South Georgia & Antarctic Adventure experience. How was that experience?

The sheer volume of wildlife was impressive. South Georgia was my favorite part of the experience. I would recommend doing the polar plunge at Deception Island.

If Swoop arranged some of your travel before/after your voyage. How did we do?

How were your experiences on the zodiac excursions and shore landings?

Salisbury Plain and St Andrews were amazing. I also loved deception island. Unfortunately, we weren't able to visit the south Orkney Islands due to the ice. The Shackelton walk was memorable. The colony of a ~ 20 Weddell seals at the Melchoir islands was a treat to see. The leucistic Gentoo penguin at Godthul was so unusual. Some of the zodiac drivers were definitely better than others. Having a king penguin chick peck at out feet was unforgettable. We were luck enough to land on an ice flat and get off. We also did snow sledding down a hill. The staff was wonderful.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

South Georgia was the highlight of the trip. Be sure to choose an itinerary that includes it and you won't regret it.
