What was your most memorable moment?
Impossible to identify any one moment as there were so many each day. Perhaps the first sight of the Antarctic after we woke up on Saturday morning, but really everything was a highlight.

Were Swoop right to recommend Oceanwide Expeditions?
Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Enjoyed them enormously, and always felt safe, especially after a very rough trip back to the ship on the afternoon of the first day in Antarctica. Again, hard to pick a favourite, but maybe Foyn Harbour was the highlight, particularly the few minutes of silence that we enjoyed surrounded by icebergs and the majestic landscape.
Tell us about the expedition team
They were all brilliant, it would be unfair to single anybody out. They were all so good at everything they did. There were a few party animals in there too!
Tell us about the Plancius
Had no idea what to expect having spent a total of one night on a boat in my entire life. Absolutely loved our little ship, so full of character, sturdy and strong (if a little rocky at times, but that was all part of the experience). The cabin was great, compact but really well laid out and providing all the storage space we needed, comfortable beds and plenty of hot water. Food was excellent, only criticism I could possibly make (not a real one) is that there was probably too much of it, added a couple of pounds! If I was doing a trip like this again, would be very happy to be on the Plancius.
Tell us about Ushuaia
Only had overnights before and after the trip but was pleasantly surprised by Ushuaia, it's a really nice little city. On;y criticism was the Dubliner, an Irish bar with no Guinness of Jameson!!!
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Just do it! Some people I know questioned why anybody would want to go there, the reality is that if they have to ask they just don't get it.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
No, not really, it has just been an amazing trip in a majestic place with great people and great experiences.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Can really only talk about the Oceanwide team, they were brilliant.
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
Because it was such a unique trip, preparation was always a bit of a guessing game but it worked out just fine. We booked three years ago and then Covid interfered, so by the time we actually got to travel. the excitement and expectation levels were pretty high. Those expectations were wildly exceeded.
