What was your most memorable moment?

Truthfully, the sunset on the first night was otherwordly. However, the frequency and the amount of wildlife that we encountered on the trip was also fantastic.

Tell us about the wildlife

I expected penguins and got more than I expected. I also had time to observe and get close to them. Whales were much more abundant than I expected. The sightings of seals and other birds were a bonus.

Tell us about the expedition team

Truly knowledgeable with a diverse array of fields covering the wildlife, geology and history of the Antarctic.

Tell us about the Ocean Adventurer

Comfortable accomodations with good service and solid food.

Tell us about Zodiac excursions

Zodiac rides were safe (aided by calm seas) and usually took us places that we couldn't travel to by boat. I especially liked when the guides took us out a little further to see if there were new wildlife that we could interact with.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

You don't need to overpack - because the outer jacket provided by the ship’s operator will cover your needs. Make sure to bring waterproof (not water resistant) pants. Stay up late if the sun is out so you can experience a long spectacular sunset.

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

Well it was 50 degrees F the first day and above freezing for 4 of the 5 days. Not sure if that's the new normal, but you can definitely see the effect on the peninsula in the area that we were.

Do you have any recommendations or feedback for the Swoop team?

I missed the part where you said that you provided hiking poles. I brought mine, never used them and then had to leave them in Punta Arenas because I didnt't have time to check them on my return flight. Other than that - good communication and delivery on a beautiful trip.
