What was your most memorable moment?
We came upon a pod of Orcas in the middle of the Gerlasch straight. The expedition team quickly decided to cancel all activities, drop ALL zodiaks and get everyone on the water to chase them. We caught up with them and found ourselves in the middle of 25 Orcas...with 3 humpback whales in their midst (not being hunted). it was amazing!

Tell us about Zodiac excursions
So much fun! Some drivers were more cautious than others, but no one is ever reckless. No one strays too close to wildlife and allows animals to come to them (or not).
Tell us about the expedition team
Pippa and George led us and they were funny, knowledgeable, fun, personable, and always willing to stop and answer questions.
Tell us about the Plancius
Would DEFINITELY get on Plancius again. The food was very varied and always delicious. The cabin was very comfortable and the amenities perfect for an expedition where your goal is to be off the boat as much as possible.
Tell us about Ushuaia
Ushuaia is certainly a tourist town. Lots of restaurants and shopping, but very hard to fill a day unless you have time to leave town. With bag pickup no later than 2 on day of departure, there's really nothing to be done but sit in a Cafe with good wifi.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Spare some room for comfy slip on shoes for the boat. You'll want them for breakfast and dinner to just relax. Laundry on the boat is super efficient and reasonably priced which alleviates packing concerns. Gear rental is super easy. It's worth considering JUST the waterproof shell if you run warm at all. it gets really warm in the direct sunlight.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
This experience reminded me that there is WAY more to life than a computer screen. Keep adventuring.

The whole team was great, very responsive.
