What was your most memorable moment?
This is so difficult because there were so many memorable moments. I think the one that will stick with me for the rest of my life, and the one that had me feeling the most emotions, was the sunset near Liard Island. We had just crossed the Antarctic Circle and the captain held us stationary as we watched the sunset. The sounds of whales were all around us and the light was perfect. I’m a sucker for sunsets and this one brought tears to my eyes. I will never forget this moment!

Tell us about Zodiac excursions
I always felt safe on the zodiac excursions. We got to see so many wonderful things. The team did a great job of taking us to shore and also getting us close to wildlife. My most memorable moment was being so close to a humpback whale that I could smell its breath!
Tell us about the expedition team
Everyone was amazing! I especially enjoyed talking and getting to know Matthias, KJ, Valeria, Alexis, and Duncan. The entire team was friendly and knowledgeable. If they didn’t know the answer to a question they would research and get back to us with an answer. The excursions were well planned and all very enjoyable.
Tell us about the Plancius
The Plancius was great. The rooms were perfectly sized and the food was amazing. I loved having access to the bridge and the crew were all willing to talk and answer questions. The lounge and observation decks were where I spent most of my time.
Tell us about the Kayaking
Alexis was the best guide I could ask for! He planned great kayak trips and helped us in all ways. All I wanted to see was a leopard seal and Alexis made that happen! I had such a great time kayaking!
Tell us about the Camping
WOW! Simply amazing. The guides were so helpful. This was such a fun experience. It wasn’t the best night’s sleep of my life but I would highly recommend this. The stars were incredible!!!
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
You don’t need to pack as much as you think! And if you’re considering this trip then you should absolutely go!!!

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Yes! It has made me more conscious of water conservation and humanity’s impact on the planet. I love salmon and will now reconsider ordering it unless it is wild caught. Earth is fragile and we need to protect it!

Extremely prepared! I definitely packed too much but that was on me.
