What was your most memorable moment?

Kayaking among dozens of "porpoising" Macaroni penguins off the shore of South Georgia Island. It was our first experience with ocean kayaking, and riding the swells in the bright sun with mountains and dramatic clouds all around and the playful penguins entertaining us was a truly magical experience.

Which of the following best describes your adventure?

Were Swoop right to recommend Polar Latitudes?

Yes

Tell us about the wildlife

The opportunities to see, hear, and move among the penguins, sea birds, seals, and whales was truly special. We learned so much, experienced so much it is hard to pick a favorite moment. Many truly 'close encounters.'

Tell us about Zodiac excursions

Great part of the trip. Let us get close to the terrain and wildlife, which added so much to the experience vs looking from afar on the ship. Drivers and support team were very professional and kept us safe, got us close, while protecting the animals, which was just as important.

Tell us about Ushuaia

Great hotel (Arakur) with amazing vistas, great service, and beautiful walking trails. Ushuaia is a wonderful scenic place.

Tell us about the Kayaking

Kayaking was a fun and immersive (not literally!) experience. Well organized and managed by the expedition team. Very safe. Wish we could have done more, but weather will be weather.

Tell us about the Seaventure

The ship and crew were terrific. The ship was a perfect size (not too large, not too small). Cabin was very nice (Owners suite, private balcony), service was superb, food was diverse and wonderful. Captain and crew were very professional and got us to many great locations and experiences while managing around the weather to get us there and keep us safe and comfortable.

Tell us about the expedition team

Without doubt the expedition team made the entire trip special. They were all very professional and knowledgeable, and they did everything possible to give us a rich diverse adventure while also protecting the places and wildlife for others to enjoy. Especially enjoyed the lectures about geology, climate change and global warming, and Shackleton's adventures.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

Be prepared for some rough seas and itinerary changes due to weather. Pay attention to the guidelines on what to bring. Be flexible and patient. It's an 'adventure,' not a trip to the spa. It is totally worth going.

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

Of course. This was our first trip traveling with a group of more than 15 people, so we learned a lot about how that works. It was our first cruise, so that taught us about how that works and what to expect. It also gave us a bit of hope and comfort learning how many people in the cruise industry and governments are working to protect the world's environments and wildlife from human impact.

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

Nope. I knew what to expect, the package was enriching and enjoyable, and the options were understandable, accessible and worthwhile.
