This is the one of the most difficult questions to answer because there were so many unforgettable moments, but I will mention the first day we arrived in Antarctica after crossing the Antarctic circle. It was snowing heavily and we went out on the Zodiac among ice slabs sorrounded by icebergs, we saw our first seals, whales, and of course, penguins. A typical Antarctic day.

The entire experience makes one moment difficult but setting foot on my seventh continent was goal completing and memorable. That said meeting my bunkie an 82 year old who had spent three years in the 70’s as part of a South African Antarctic Expedition coming back and finding the continent in better condition than he expected was the most meaningful moment.

Paddling in Fournier Bay surrounded by humpback whales. There were blows everywhere. There were whales trumpeting. Two sleeping whales floated to the raft of kayaks and then veered off in a quick turn with flipper up and were about 10 meters from us. We could smell their breath.

9.5 put of 10 Great excursions with a blue sky day on a zodiac near ice bergs and whales the highlight. People on the boat a good mix and we found a like minded 8 which we largely shared the adventure with. Surprise was the intensity of the trip... 3/4 full days.

Very difficult to choose just one as everyday was filled with once in a lifetime great memories. I would say stepping of the zodiac onto the Antarctic the very first time would be my choice of the very best. But truly every day and all the expeditions were fabulous, memorable, different, and once in a lifetime events.

The highlight was seeing hundreds of thousands of king penguins in South Georgia. The glaciers and icebergs were breathtaking. Was wonderful to see whales, but I most enjoyed the many and playful fur seals. Great group of fellow travelers. Very enjoyable to get to know people from other countries. No surprises.

Too many to count. Kayaking through pieces of ice that had seals resting on them. Watching penguins. Having so many scientists and highly skilled experts on board to hear from and talk to. Learned so much from them as well as the trip itself. Appreciated the inclusion of lectures and information about glaciology, wildlife, climate change, sustainability, and what we can do. Before beginning our voyage, we purchased carbon offsets for this trip from Cool Effect (one of many that seem high rated and well-monitored).
