My life is changed, but it will to be short. Back to Belgium today. It is like an hangover here. I travelled around the world is +\_ 75 countries. Mad of Bolivia, North of Chile,… for me it is not the Nothern light anymore or walking in 1 or 2 meters of snow, but definitely Antarctica for the rest of my life. It is just magical and wonderful. I was happy to down to 68S. The pingouin emperor is wouahhhh. I m not specially ecologist. But I make things in that direction. How can we be insensitive to Antarctica??? We had a long discussion in 2049 at the end of the treaty??? The Americans first will run for petrol, uranium……. That’s scary me. The commandant of the ship of Dominic, I want to tell him thank you for everything! The personal was particularly excellent and intrepid I loved them

Too many memorable moments to remember! Elephant seals, standing on a sea ice sheet, polar plunge, star gazing during our camping adventure, watching Orcas chase and interact with humpback whales, massive icebergs.... The list could go on and on!

There were so many. All the penguins! Seals, whales. A calm Drake Passage. Sailing in the zodiac in Paradise Bay.

The time that our zodiac driver Pierre jokingly counted down the seconds to when the next humpback whale would appear next to our zodiac, only to have one surface right behind him just as he reached zero. Priceless!!

During a minutes silence on our zodiac to really take in and appreciate the surroundings an ice berg which we were near we could hear cracks from within and then suddenly a large chunk of the ice berg calved off the side. It was an overwhelming moment that stunned our whole zodiac.

The trip to Antarctic allowed me to see the part of the world that is far far away from us. And the trip also allowed me to think the environmental connections of our life to that part of the world.

South Georgia would rank as the highlight insofar as the scenery and the wildlife were both off the scale. The expedition team were excellent, both in terms of the varied and informative lectures, and their professionalism conducting the excursions. The 'Island Sky' staff were first-rate as well, from the ship's officers getting us into sheltered inlets, to the superb catering, and the tireless deck hands and hotel workers. Biggest surprise: Drake Lake! Magic moment: Being 'inspected' by a fur seal pup.

Honestly, ALL OF IT. I guess when I saw the first large ice bergs I was amazed. Then when we set foot on land in that first landing.
