Too many memorable moments to remember! Elephant seals, standing on a sea ice sheet, polar plunge, star gazing during our camping adventure, watching Orcas chase and interact with humpback whales, massive icebergs.... The list could go on and on!

During a minutes silence on our zodiac to really take in and appreciate the surroundings an ice berg which we were near we could hear cracks from within and then suddenly a large chunk of the ice berg calved off the side. It was an overwhelming moment that stunned our whole zodiac.

South Georgia would rank as the highlight insofar as the scenery and the wildlife were both off the scale. The expedition team were excellent, both in terms of the varied and informative lectures, and their professionalism conducting the excursions. The 'Island Sky' staff were first-rate as well, from the ship's officers getting us into sheltered inlets, to the superb catering, and the tireless deck hands and hotel workers. Biggest surprise: Drake Lake! Magic moment: Being 'inspected' by a fur seal pup.

We went to see wildlife and we saw every species we had hoped to see and in greater detail and much closer than expected! We had humpback whales playing about our zodiac! The landscapes were as expected however our captain used the landscapes to make our sailing experience better than nature was offering. We met wonderful fellow travelers, any one of whom we would be delighted to meet again or host in our home. Our most magical moments were interacting with fellow travelers and wildlife.

When they cancelled our flight back because the runway was not safe to land the trip was ruined. They had no other backup plan to get us safely off Antarctica. We are currently rocking and rolling in the Drake Passage on the Nova and won’t be home for at least 3 more days. All our reservations to get home had to be cancelled and rebooked. At the least we’re spending another $3-5K to get new reservations to get home. No one so far is offering to compensate us for our troubles. The only reason we booked this trip with Antarctica21 was to avoid the Drake Passage. That was their selling point and they blew it. My wife has been sea sick ever since we started sailing north and we won’t be off the boat until Friday, if then. Antarctica21 blew it big time and should compensate us for their poor planning and ruining our vacation. Martin Warnica 713-828-4274 mwarnica@comcast.net
