Seeing humpback whale swim right beside my side of the zodiac. It swam and to me rolled as if to look, see who and what we are. Seemed only a meter/yard or two below me. Yes our zodiac was stopped if anyone was wondering. Antarctica 21 is about the safety and care of the animals and the lands.

Kayaking in the brash ice in Neko Harbor. The stillness created by the ice was broken only by the occasional glacier calving. We paddled past a sleeping crab eater seal and watched feeding penguins swim past.

We were fortunate to have Loli (Lolly) as our Naturalist and Zodiac driver for an incredible encounter with Humbacks. She was super informative, and was as excited as we were to see them. She was helping out on the boat for a couple of weeks but also was a Swoop employee as well. She made sure that we (Craig and Candice) were also sorted out on our flights when we had a delay. Everyone on the boat wanted to have her as their driver because she was so fun and pleasant to be with.

Antartica trip was beyond expectations. A unique lifetime experience with wonderful nature that changes every day with with serenity and sometimes the sound of silence. Something that you cannot describe with pictures or words but only live personally with unforgettable memories.

Moments....plural. The daily zodiac excursions. Whether hiking up to the penguins or being among the humpback whales while they came up for air or just looking at the different icebergs and their colors, the Antarctic scenery and wildlife was amazing.

The most memorable moment of all times was the heat and the intensity of the sunlight that i saw at the top of the mountain. As u know, Antarctica had the highest recorded temperatures while I was there. and its not just like any other high temperature that I'm used to in NY, this sun in Antarctica is very strong. its bright and it got very hot. never did I even imagine that the sun and the heat that i will face in Antarctica will be stronger than what im used to NY. goes to show how severe the climate emergency is. and its real!. that was astonishing!

Finally reaching Antarctica after two unsuccessful tries, disembarking our zodiac in rough seas with snow blowing sideways and planting ourselves on the rocky shore of the White Continent.
