Operator's Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Buenos Aires
The perfect beginning to an Antarctic voyage, your trip includes a complimentary night’s stay in Buenos Aires.
This city combines grand European-style architecture with a lively South American spirit. Try a sumptuous Argentine steak in a local parilla or immerse yourself in a tango show.
Day 2: En route to Ushuaia, Argentina
It’s an early morning start today for your charter flight south to Ushuaia, the city at the bottom of South America. A transfer will take you and your fellow travellers from the airport to the port, where your hybrid-powered expedition ship awaits. Purpose built for sailing in challenging polar seas, this vessel feels right at home in this gateway to Antarctica.
The world’s southernmost city is set in a stunning location, ringed by snow-dusted mountains. Enjoy the setting and look out for wildlife from the ship’s spacious decks as you set sail down the Beagle Channel.
Days 3 & 4: Crossing the Drake Passage
On your two days of sailing across the Drake Passage, your expedition team’s friendly and knowledgeable guides will inform and excite you ahead of your arrival in Antarctica. Join lectures to learn about everything from iconic wildlife such as penguins and albatross, to polar history and even glaciology. Spend time exploring the ship’s facilities; the unique onboard science centre is fully equipped to help you build on your Antarctic knowledge in your own time.
Biosecurity sessions are also planned during these days at sea to help you understand how to travel safely and with as little impact on the delicate Antarctic environment as possible.
Relaxation time will also be on the agenda to prepare you for the adventures ahead. Enjoy soothing sessions in the sumptuous spa, dine on delectable meals in the multiple restaurants, and mingle with other guests in the spacious Explorer Lounge & Bar.
Days 5 to 9: Exploring the Antarctic Peninsula
During these five days in Antarctica, you’ll be awestruck by the otherworldly spectacle of glaciers and icebergs. As you gaze across the landscape, take note of the silence too; its profoundness is only interrupted by the extraordinary wildlife that calls this region home. Watch as penguins porpoise through the water and seals lounge on ice floes while you keep an eye out for whales gorging on krill.
Nature reigns supreme here, so your Captain will adapt the itinerary according to the ever-changing weather and ice conditions. Each day will bring excitement, whether you’re out on landings and zodiac cruises or have chosen to book an optional kayak trip to paddle among bobbing bergs. With up to 500 guests on board and in compliance with landing restrictions in Antarctica, should conditions allow, the expedition team will be aiming to offer one landing excursion and one zodiac cruise per guest per day. These will each last approximately 45-60 minutes.
When you’re on board, yet more educational and immersive lectures will be planned by your expedition team, deepening your appreciation for Antarctica. The Science Center will play host to dedicated workshops to take a microscopic look at samples collected by those who have participated in the Citizen Science zodiac trips.
Enjoy your downtime with a visit to the bubbling outdoor hot tubs - the perfect spot from which to enjoy the glorious Antarctic landscapes.
Days 10 & 11: Returning via the Drake Passage
After these five amazing days, your mind is bound to swirl with unforgettable memories. Spend your homeward journey on the Drake Passage sorting through the thousands of snapshots on your camera or reminiscing with fellow travellers about your trip.
As well as continuing the educational program, there will also be opportunities to capture your Antarctic experience in a more creative way, with craft workshops where you might paint a postcard or craft a clay penguin.
Day 12: Disembarkation in Ushuaia, Argentina
Your cruise will finish in Ushuaia, where it began. From here you’ll hop aboard a charter flight back to Buenos Aires and continue your journey onward, whether elsewhere in the region or home.
