This is the one of the most difficult questions to answer because there were so many unforgettable moments, but I will mention the first day we arrived in Antarctica after crossing the Antarctic circle. It was snowing heavily and we went out on the Zodiac among ice slabs sorrounded by icebergs, we saw our first seals, whales, and of course, penguins. A typical Antarctic day.

Seeing these animals just metres away was amazing. I was shocked with how beautiful South Georgia was goth in animals and in landscapes. Stunning.

Setting my feet Antarctica, crossing the circle. Both are our my last to achieve. We also sailed further south then anyone on the crew had done before...That & the animals were all very special.

Walking on Salisbury Plain on South Georgia Island. To be part of thousands of penguins and seals that have no fear of you, is quite incredible!

Hard to determine which one was the most memorable as every day was historic. If I had to pick one I think it would be when the captain stopped the ship in the middle of the night and alerted all the passengers to the huge number of whales on both sides of the ship. Literally hundred's. I stopped for about 2hrs to let everyone enjoy the sightings.

To clarify... I'd rate the adventure somewhere between "life changing" and "great." I have told family and friends since returning home that it was "life affirming." As for "most memorable moment," I'd have to say any moment spent among the penguins. I have always been skeptical about the concept of manufactured instant joy. Then I took my first excursion to one of the penguin-inhabited peninsulas. Now I am a believer.
