When the Minke whale swam under our kayak, and then stopped in the center of our grouped kayaks among the broken ice, and proceeded to blow snot at a few of us, 4 times, while poking the tip if his mouth out of the water at us….lasting at least 2 full minutes…then gliding past me underwater (about 1 m) and looking me straight in the eye…..I couldn’t breathe!!

So many amazing moments that its tough to pick one. A few examples: - Being in a zodiac and suddenly finding ourselves being circled at close proximity by 2 pods of hunting humpback whales which were fluking, rolling and generally bubbling to confuse their prey. - Navigating the incredible Lemaire channel which was so blocked by a massive iceberg that getting through was a miracle performed by the ships bridge. - Looking down on and listening to the immense penguin colony at St Andrews bay in S.Georgia. - Seeing my first blue iceberg. - Seeing a glacier calve into the sea.

South Georgia, by far. That was the primary focus of our trip, and one of the reasons we selected this cruise as it spent 4+ days around South Georgia. Unfortunately, the weather pushed us out after a couple days. Bottom line, I'd go back to S. Georgia as a destination in and of itself - we both thought it surpassed Antarctica on a number of levels (scenery, wildlife density, historical, etc.)
