Polar Latitudes has one of the most knowledgeable and experienced teams in Antarctica. Since bursting onto the scene in 2012, they’ve grown from operating a single ship to a fleet of three, and have led the way by being the first to introduce citizen science to Antarctic cruises, as well as putting the focus on giving travellers the maximum time off-ship to enjoy Antarctica.
Polar Latitudes Expeditions was founded just two years after Swoop and we’ve very much grown up together, forging a deep relationship that has seen us become their leading global agent.

Who are Polar Latitudes Expeditions?
Founded in 2012 as simply Polar Latitudes, PL as they’re often known, are one of the few polar operators that sail exclusively in polar waters.
Founder John Mckeon brought together a team with immense Antarctic experience to not just offer fully immersive and educational travel experiences, but to go beyond the traditional ‘leave no trace’ mandate and leave the Antarctic environment better after every journey. Polar Latitudes was the first operator to make citizen science a standard part of every voyage.
In 2025, Polar Latitudes merged with another equally experience operator, Albatros Expeditions, to form Polar Latitudes Expeditions, expanding their fleet to three vessels.
