Bob Stepowski's Trip Date:

13th Nov - 25th Nov 2017

Bob Stepowski's Ship:

Ocean Endeavour

Overall, how was your trip?

Probable the highlight (there were many) was landing on the continent. There were thousands of penguins, many whales, hundreds of birds. Mountains covered with snow. Icebergs everywhere some that rolled looking very wet, some with a dusting of snow that looked like powder sugar and some with seals laying in the sun. Strangers I never met acted like neighbors I knew for 10 years.

In one sentence, what did you think of Antarctica? Did it live up to your expectations?

Antarctica was outstanding. It was far beyond my wildest exceptions

Would you visit again?

Maybe

How was the service that Swoop provided?

John who works for swoop talked me in to going, am I glad he did. I had an inside cabin that I only used for sleep. The ship has hundreds of windows with comfortable chairs. John explained everything before I left. He had been on the ship before. They were there 24-7 for phone calls if I wanted information before I left

You chose a/an Antarctic Explorer experience. How was that experience?

I was on the Ocean Endeavour a fantastic ship, casual dress, it really was gourmet food 4 times a day. The staff all knew my name ( I don't know how). I would recommend this trip to any one wanting to see the 7th continent.

You chose to do {category.title} on this voyage. How was that experience?

I went mountaineering (it was hiking with crampons and an ice axe). We would go up steep hills and get amazing views. With a guide in the front and back, so you felt very safe.

How were your experiences on the zodiac excursions and shore landings?

They would drive you around in zodiacs circling icebergs with seals and penguins on them. They would land on the beach and take you to penguin rookeries where the penguins would fight for small pebbles. They had mammal experts, bird experts, geology experts all willing to explain anything.
