Tell us about the wildlife

Wildlife was astounding. We saw whales (none breaching, however). I absolutely fell in love with the penguins and the seals. I could watch them all day. We saw leopard seals and they were powerful and graceful as well as a bit scary. The Skuas, the Albatross, the Petrel - all the birds were magnificent. And they were so easy to see from the shore and the Zodiacs. My friends couldn’t believe how close they came to us (we tried our best to keep the legal distance from them, but that can be difficult).

Tell us about Zodiac excursions

The ability to leave the ship to explore is priceless. At first accessing the Zodiacs can be a bit formidable. But with the assistance of the staff (very conscientious and well trained) it soon became comfortable (well, there were some exciting exits from the Zodiacs to the ship in rough seas, but it all part of the adventure!). My most memorable Zodiac cruise was to Neko Harbor. Absolutely Beautiful!!!

Tell us about the expedition team

All so very competent and friendly. My favorites were Dan, John, Annette, Lauren and of course, our Expedition Leader, Ashley!

Tell us about the Greg Mortimer

My first cruise, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I thought it was awesome. It had all the amenities, was clean, new, with plenty of places to hang out. Cabins did not feel cramped, ours 611 was comfortable and had a beautiful balcony. Beds were comfortable and the bathrooms had heated floors (they were great for drying wet gloves, beanies and other attire). The showers were fitted with a clothes line that came in very handy for drying wet expedition clothing and laundry. There was same day laundry service too.

Something Else?

The kitchen, dining and cleaning crew were the MOST FRIENDLY and pleasant people EVER.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
