Definitely arriving in the Antartic peninsula, with the boat driving through sea ice, the ice closing behind us, icebergs everywhere and an enormous blue glacier ahead - extraordinary

Helpful ; knowledgeable and friendly; The expedition leader was excellent and always a plan A,B and C, was very flexible to ensure we saw as much as we possibly could.
Tell us about the wildlife
This was amazing, saw so much and were so close to the birds and animals: an Albatross colony ; 5 different types of penguins in huge colonies and small; chicks and incubating eggs as well as seeing hundreds of penguins arriving to land after months out of sea. There were seals of many varieties and all sorts of birds.

We mainly used the Zodiacs for landings - they were safe and effiecient
Tell us about the Greg Mortimer
The Ship was lovely; lovely cabin; nice areas to congregate ; super viewing decks; good facilities . Captain and crew first class and worked very well with the expedition team. The staff were excellent . We thought the food overall was the weakest part, the chefs were terrific but can only work with what they are given , the food produced was good but in our opinion not up to five star standard, give the cost of the trip we would have expected better food.

Enjoyed our hiking in the tierra del fuego - beautiful area, good guide . We enjoyed our hotel, Hotel Cocquenos, location terrific , right on shore of beagle channel nice room and service was good.

Busy fun city - hotel in good location, and adequate for a city visit

All transfers arranged by Swoop went like clock work
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
It was well worthwhile doing lots of research and reading. On a practical note bring a second pair of gloves, we took thermal fluffy lined rubber gloves which were fantastic as completely waterproof. Do some 'add ons' if you can, it was lovely not having to fly straight, if you can take some time to visit tierra del fuego.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
No , but re-inforced the problems of climate change
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
We found the Swoop team very helpful and patient (COVID delays meant years from booking to going). All arrangements worked well. Loved the what's app facility for any queries (both ways) whilst on trip.
