Tell us about the wildlife
We saw whales and not close enough to take photos. The albatrosses were nice to watch. And of course lots of penguins! Did not see any iceberg but perhaps that’s a reason to go back!
Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Yes. Very cool zodiac excursions! We got wet a little. Clothing should be water proof.
Tell us about the expedition team
I love all of the lectures. All of it was new to me. Everyone did an amazing job with lectures and getting to know all of the guests. Captain Bob certainty was the best. He did an amazing job explaining about the trip so that everyone knows what to expect every day. Everyone is so friendly. Agust was also very knowledgeable about seabirds especially penguins.
Tell us about the Magellan Explorer
Magellan Explore is a world class piece of art! Brand new ship with everything you can ask for. The outside deck of our cabin was very nice and private. The ship has the latest stabilizer technology so we didn’t feel the waves too much. My friend was still seasick. I couldn’t imagine her with an older ship! Food was excellent. Good variety every day and every meals.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Take waterproof pants as you may get wet. Bring a bandanna - the wind makes it colder than recorded temperature. I love Ushuaia much more than Punta Arenas. You can get Antarctica souvenirs in Ushuaia.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Absolutely yes! Everything on our planet is connected. We learned about ocean conveyor belt that helps cool down ocean water and sends it to Indian Ocean. Tiny krill creatures help brings carbon down to deeper ocean water. We need to help protect our wildlife and nature.
