Cape Horn

The southernmost headland of the Tierra del Fuego group of islands in southern Chile, Cape Horn was discovered by Willem Schouten and Jacob le Maire on their expedition aboard the Dutch vessel 'Eendracht'. It was named for the Dutch city, Hoorn, where Willem Schouten was ship's master and where most of the financial support for the voyage came from.

Antarctica lies just 650km away, across the Drake Passage. Cape Horn tends to be visited as part of an Antarctic cruise exploring the Antarctic Peninsula.
