Being at the bottom of the world, and so far from civilization, was a concept that kept amazing me every time I thought about it.

Tell us about Zodiac excursions

I enjoyed the zodiac excursions very much. My only suggestion would be to reduce the amount of people in each trip. Anytime there was something to see or photograph, everyone stood up and it was near impossible to get a clear view or photo. We were constantly in each others way.

Tell us about the expedition team

To a person, the expedition team was impressively knowledgable about what we were exploring and very friendly and welcoming. They were very happy to talk and answer all of our questions, and were very patient.

Tell us about the Silver Wind

The ship was impeccable. The suites were large, comfortable and well appointed, including plenty of drawers and hanging space for the trip we were there for. Everything was clean and in good repair. The dining was wonderful- Excellent menus, deliciously prepared and wonderfully presented by a truly excellent and happy staff. The excursion process was outstanding! Well thought out, organized and activated. There was not a glitch (that I saw,) more than enough assistance, from every staff member to assure quick, efficient and SAFE transfer into the zodiacs. There was no impatience toward any guest, the staff always had a smile, a “good morning,” and “let me help you with that.”

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

It would have been helpful I were told, in the beginning, that I should only speak with Swoop for questions about the trip. I am used to going directly to the “horse’s mouth” but Silversea referred me back to Swoop. The problem there is that Swoop didn’t have, and couldn’t get answers to some very specific questions I had about current conditions on the continent, that I believe Silversea might have done better with. Sarah did a great job to try to get me answers, she was very creative and did everything possible to get me information. She was very patient and friendly.

How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?

I was overprepared, took way too much warmth because I couldn’t get a handle on the current conditions. Clearly it’s better to be over prepared than under, but my suitcase was stuffed beyond necessary. Maybe Silversea could create a page on their website showing current weather forecasts for the areas we would be visiting.
