Crossing the Antarctic Circle. Getting the farthest south in the Weddell Sea than any other passenger vessel. Helicopters to the continent there. And Emperor Penguins

Tell us about Zodiac excursions
The zodiac expedition team was perfect. I felt safe at all times. They found us a rare Ross Seal and a Leopard Seal and lots of Emperor Penguins. The thrill was a landing on Elephant Island. Some of the team tried to land there for 25 years
Tell us about the Ortelius
Great ship. Comfy beds. Very accommodating in the restaurant, regarding our special diets. Lots of viewing areas. The open bridge was great and we were welcome there. Bar and lecture room lounge was nice and big. a great venue, The helicopters were a wonderful asset. We got 4 flights in.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Just go. You will be amazed.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
The lectures covered everything. All the mammals, and how humans affect them. The importance of Krill and our harvesting of it, taking the food supply away will change my eating habits, for sure. The remoteness was overwhelming. What a beautiful planet.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Swoop has been wonderful.
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
Very I followed the packing advise, and it didn't fail me.

Tell us about the expedition team
The expedition team was excellent. More like friends. They professionally organized the zodiac and helicopter outings. The team was focused on safety at all times They even organized a crochet crafternoon. some men joined in! All of the expedition team members were my favorites. Koen and Gez and Bill were most memorable. Chris was a great team leader. Chloe was a sweetheart. Werner is an amazing photographer. Everyone was very knowledgeable in their field. and lectures were very informative. Steve, the Shackleton historian gave one of my favorite lectures. All the lectures were top notch.
