What was your most memorable moment?

To clarify... I'd rate the adventure somewhere between "life changing" and "great." I have told family and friends since returning home that it was "life affirming." As for "most memorable moment," I'd have to say any moment spent among the penguins. I have always been skeptical about the concept of manufactured instant joy. Then I took my first excursion to one of the penguin-inhabited peninsulas. Now I am a believer.

Were Swoop right to recommend Antarctica 21?

Yes

Tell us about Zodiac excursions

Enjoyed them all, though my favorites were the two involving hikes toward breathtaking vistas. Yes, I felt safe always.

Tell us about the expedition team

Trip guides like Jonathan Green and his teammates are typically authoritative or personable. Rarely do they blend the two traits as seamlessly as the Magellan's expedition team did. A marvelous crew. I feel guilty singling out individuals but my Zodiac rides with Emily and Allison as captain were my favorite.

Tell us about the Magellan Explorer

The cabin, food, spirits and daily programs were all top notch. Yes, I would choose the Explorer again while encouraging anyone interested in an Antarctic voyage to book that ship in particular.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

Jonathan said it best more than once -- you can sleep when you're back on the plane homeward bound. Make every moment count for you are unlikely to experience anything like this again.

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

Like I said, it was a life-affirming journey. I am in awe of my place in this world, something I'll never take for granted again.

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

The cost us quite high, but I don't suppose there is much anyone can do about such an undertaking.

How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?

I went into the journey feeling more curious than excited.

When are you thinking of taking your next trip?

I don`t know
