Tell us about the expedition team
Top-notch, 10/10. All extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and well-trained. It was a pleasure to get to know so many members of the expedition team and staff.
Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Amazingly fun and full of wildlife and landscape encounters. It was especially fun to see penguins swimming up to us close underwater.
Were Swoop right to recommend Aurora Expeditions?
Yes
Tell us about the Greg Mortimer
So clean, so well-maintained, and the onboard facilities were great. Was never really lacking in something to do and the hot-tubs and sauna were such a nice touch as well. The dining staff were really great and the food on board never disappointed even once.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Plan, plan, plan, but be flexible. The weather and conditions will change so don't get too disappointed if you get an off day here or there. Make sure you get all the appropriate gear. Other than that, have fun!
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
It has made me more motivated to get involved in conservatism efforts and see what research opportunities there may be for me in the polar regions in the medical field going forward.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
None.
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
Given the last minute trip change, I was a little bit jarred - but overall I felt that once I got to Ushuaia the experience was just as I envisioned it. I felt prepared, did not lack for anything, and getting my gear from New Headings was also very convenient for me.
