The zodiac cruise at Charlotte Bay where 3 humped back whales played around the zodiacs for ages. They were close and frequently blowing, waving with their fins and going belly up around and under the zodiacs before emerging to say hello. Whilst all this was going on the sky changed from cloudy to very blue, absolutely stunning.

The zodiac excursions were a fabulous way of getting closer to the landscape and wildlife. It didn’t matter who was driving the zodiac as everyone had so much knowledge and tips to share. The way we were loaded into and out of the zodiac meant I felt safe at all times, great care and consideration. Then when out and about we were driven around with great care. The most memorable cruise would have to Charlotte bay as mentioned previously as the interaction with whales was unbelievable for all of us.

Not dodging the question but all the expedition team were friendly, so knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects. The presentations were well thought out and those on the return journey equally interesting focusing on the building of the ship and running of it from a food and beverage perspective.

I would most definitely choose this ship again and have already been looking at itineraries. The cabin was more spacious than other cruise ships I have been on. Plenty of wardrobes, drawers etc and the living area was spacious. The shower in the bathroom was soooooo good and a heated bathroom floor a treat and useful for drying damp gloves! Great mattress, thanks to Jake. Ultramarine has been carefully designed and an amazing ship.

It was a great experience and I was paired with someone who had more experience and that was a great help. I was cautious about the experience and how I would get in and out of the zodiac but no worries the team made sure it was a smooth transition. Guidance and advice was there all the time and no one got left behind. I would certainly recommend the opportunity to other travellers as it gives an opportunity to see everything from a different view, closer to the water.

I can’t leave out the heli flight as that was brilliant. An opportunity to see the landscape from above and the ship. Meticulous attention to detail whilst efficiently getting the group to the right place. This was an experience that will never be forgotten, seeing glaciers from above was fascinating.

The information that I was given about what clothes to take was very good and worked well for me. Joining the Facebook group gave upto date tips (binoculars in the Panorama lounge and poles available when going ashore) I felt very prepared.

An awareness of how delicate the world we live in can be and feel blessed to have had the opportunity to spend time at this incredible continent and hope that others in the future are also able to and that we do not spoil it.

Make sure that information given is correct and make it clear what anyone can expect from Swoop. Perhaps I was expecting too much ashad the impression that I would be supported and contacted right up to the departure. Some emails were missed originally and it was only by going into my account that I realised there had been updates. Both Maddison and Sarah were friendly when there was contact.

I felt very prepared, privileged, anxious and excited about the opportunity to visit Antarctica.
