What was your most memorable moment?
It is impossible to pick one moment. Seeing the first iceberg, watching penguins make their way up steep slopes to their rookeries, Getting roped up to go snowshoeing, easing over the side of the Zodiac to go snorkeling, tasting the salt water as we kayaked, all are embedded in my memory.

Tell us about Zodiac excursions
The Zodiacs were fun. Of course the weather ws great and not too windy or cold. Safety was never an issue on any of our outings as I thought our safety was being double checked at all times. My most memorable Zodiac outing was with the citizen scientist activity.
Tell us about the expedition team
These men and women made the trip! Individually they were very engaging and friendly. The presentations they made were entertaining and informative on a wide range of relevant topics. Gregory, Jay and Darren come to mind as staff that I connected with a little more.
Tell us about the Greg Mortimer
Wonderful experience. I found the rooms more than adequate, the ship clean, and the crew very friendly. The hotel staff provided exceptional service. I would not hesitate to take this ship again.
Tell us about Buenos Aires
We interested to visit Beunos Aires but we're not really big city folks. I would highly recommend the bicycle tour. the bus tour was ok. We certainly got a feel for how bad the traffic is! Our Argentine meal was fun but we wish we had known about the option not to do the wine pairing as my wife is a non-drinker.
Tell us about Ushuaia
Ushuaia was much larger than I was expecting. I think the with the train ride and the walk through the prison we got a good feeling for the history of the place.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
The activities were scheduled such that the folks that booked earlier got preference on activities. This was not clear to all the participants and led to some disappointing experiences. Fortunately we got to do all we had wanted to do. So my advice is to book as far in advance as possible.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
I wanted to go t Antarctica because as a youth I knew a man that made several trips there on research expeditions and it captured my imagination. I ow have an even greater appreciation for how difficult it is to do work in Antarctica. I also have a greater appreciation for how so many environmental issues are relevant to the Antarctic.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
I was sometimes confused about what forms needed to be completed and whether they were Swoop or Aurora. Overall I think Swoop did pretty well keeping me on task.
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
Despite our anxiety about not having the right gear, we had exactly what we needed by following the packing lists.
