Tell us about the expedition team
Stand out members: All of the crew went above and beyond trying to make for a pleasant trip after a decoy from flight cancellations into and out of King George Island. I commend each crew member. Of special note: Martin was spectacular, his humor, wit and fun that he brings brightens a room! The Spa/Salon team was amazing. All professional and very good at the specialty services. Nathan, the ship Store Mgr, was great- so consultative and pleasant! My butler was outstanding! He made sure to bring green apples and ginger to my room through my seasickness. Even offered to pack my bags prior to disembarking. Surie, housekeeping- so nice and did a wonderful job! Pushkar in the restaurant was super! He always offered a smile and his arm through rough seas, as an escort to a table. François (aka: Thor- lol) was knowable, friendly and an amazing guide. What a gem! There are so many more I know I am forgetting but all were superb!
Something Else?
I believe that Silverseas, if they cancel flights, which are intended as part of the Fly&Cruise package should honor that package… they need to provide accommodation for passengers that specifically purchased the package to avoid the Drake passage allowing guests options to reschedule their trip (to later receive what they purchased). Additionally, all passengers were told not to schedule flight flights. In this case I and other passengers were dropped off at 11 AM with flights at 11 PM which means we had to wait at the airport. 12 hours prior to departure. The Delta agents did not arrive for check in until 7pm. So Silverseas guests had to wait at tables in the food sections and purchased food and beverages out of pocket while already tired and ill (in my case). Many guests spoke that Silverseas could have easily coordinated a comfortable hospitality suite with beverages sitting/resting space and a place to hold luggage - at the hotel connected to airport. This would have made for a nicer ending and showed a level of care and wellbeing to the their departing guests.

How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
Beyond excited preparing for what I thought would be “The Trip of a Lifetime” but extremely disappointed at the way the “Fly” cancellation to Antarctica was handled.
