Were Swoop right to recommend Polar Latitudes?

Yes

Tell us about Zodiac excursions

Excellent but we were "Immersive" kayakers

Tell us about the expedition team

They were excellent in all aspects. Knowledgeable, enthusiastic, friendly.

Tell us about the Seaventure

Seaventure was excellent. The cabin was fine but would have benefitted from space to stow our kayaking gear. All food & restaurant organisation, service, etc, was excellent despite the food poisoning. The Captain was amazing at keeping the ship comfortable during ocean crossings. 138 passengers was a good number. We would not want a ship with more passengers.

Tell us about the Kayaking

Immersive kayaking is thoroughly recommended, even for non-kayakers like us. It meant we were first off the ship every morning & afternoon, and our guides Zach & Julien made sure we still had time to do all the land excursions experienced by the non-kayakers. Zach & Julien also took quality photos of our kayaking excursions where it was not possible for us kayakers to carry larger non-waterproof cameras.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

1. Don't go if it is just a bucket list trip. 2. Don't go unless you are prepared for long sea trips. 3. Only go if you are passionate about wildlife and wild remote places and wish to be educated. 4. Go with Swoop & Polar Latitudes. 5. Make sure your expedition is doing 2 excursions/passenger/day. 6. Immersive kayaking is a must. 7. We had 65 Chinese passengers. Please be aware that they have slightly different manners & culture.

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

Yes. Antarctica and South Georgia are very precious and need to be protected from human interference, commercial exploitation and global warming.

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

I think I have said it all above. Happy to chat if you wish.

How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?

Yes very excited. We thought we were prepared. Neoprene gloves should be recommended for kayakers, but Polar Latitudes were able to lend them.
