Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Really fun! The best cruise was through the iceberg graveyard and we also saw crab eater and Weddell seals.
Tell us about the expedition team
They were truly excellent, very friendly, and approachable. Hard to say what was the favourite lecture because they were all so different and that was good to keep it interesting. Definitely keep the mate lecture.
Tell us about the Hondius
Great ship, a good size for meeting people while accommodating time on your own if you want. Food was incredible and inspiring to make more variety at home. Amazing to have such quality so far from home and with so many people to feed at one time. Very impressive.
Something Else?
I appreciated the effort the staff made to learn our names and preferences, it made the journey feel very warm. The care the expedition staff had for giving us a great experience while keeping us safe was also evident.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
The water is very cold so consider waterproof gloves for kayaking. I had neoprene and it wasn’t enough. Get doctor prescribed medication for sea sickness, most of the over the counter stuff didn’t work.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Antarctica is truly unlike any other place on earth and words can’t do it justice.
