On a scale of 0 to 10, how would you rate your trip: Antarctic Explorer Refined?
10 out of 10
Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Enjoyed that we moved locations from morning to afternoon. Great swapping out mid excursion from zodiacs to shore when possible
Tell us about the expedition team
The team were extremely knowledgeable and were enthusiastic about each of their specialties. Eager to share their knowledge from breakfast through out the day and into the evenings.
Tell us about the World Explorer
Very comfortable rooms. Food was delicious and plentiful.
Tell us about the Paddling
My favorite activity but unfortunately only offered 1 morning trip due to the number of people that signed up, not because of weather. This should be known as up front. For the price I was expecting 2 or 3 outings. Ship should limit sign ups. The sea kayakers went out every day, sometimes 2 a day. If we had known this we would have signed up for sea laying.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Most of your layers will be worn several days. You don’t need new layers everyday and some even wore them from breakfast until after dinner briefings. Dont overpack.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Just that I want to go back
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Everyone had to be off the ship by 8:30 am. Due to flight info swoop suppled (suggested after 1400) about booking flights back ; our only option was 1800. Had we been told 1200, as Quark later furnished, we could have caught a flight back much sooner. This would have significantly reduced our travel time back home by 10 hours less due to timing of earlier flights.
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
Very prepared. Easy transfers to/from airport. Hotel in Ushuaia was very nice
