What was your most memorable moment?
The entire experience makes one moment difficult but setting foot on my seventh continent was goal completing and memorable. That said meeting my bunkie an 82 year old who had spent three years in the 70’s as part of a South African Antarctic Expedition coming back and finding the continent in better condition than he expected was the most meaningful moment.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Plan extra flex time into your trip before and after the cruise. Transportation issues will occur when least expected. Be able to change plans when needed. When the transportation unions in Argentina called a nationwide 24 hour strike when I was in Atlanta on route I had to rework my entire inbound itinerary spending three nights in Lima, Peru causing revision of both my Argentinian plans and significant cost and effort on my part to right the ship! With that said I took advantage of exploring a new city in a new country and jammed four days of activities into two in Ushuaia. Most important I have more stories to tell!
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Yes, I feel better both about our world and the people that can live in harmony within it when they make the effort to do so. Insularity builds walls.
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
Over prepared and under-excited. I was doing this trip to complete a goal rather than experience the uniqueness of this journey . The experience was so meaningful that the goal ,while met, because secondary.
