What was your most memorable moment?
The helicopter crew and Ryan the Expedition Leader deciding they could make the trip of 62 miles each way to the Snow Hill colony and then of course, actually making it there in the wind and snow! Secondly the helicopter sight seeing trip over Hidden Bay - just incredible.

Were Swoop right to recommend Quark Expeditions?
Yes
Tell us about the expedition team
Such a knowledgable team. Ryan lead from the front, always onshore, always with his team. He really was incredible character. We loved Fabrice’s presentations but also Miko’s too and Ross gave an enthralling story of Shackleton’s at the end, everything was excellent and we loved having Peter Fretwell and his team onboard for additional scientific presentations. The Helicopter team were just outstanding - Neil, Johnny, Jimmy, Wes (and the others) - this is definitely the USP for Quark.
Tell us about the Ultramarine
Super ship overall In general we loved it. Though our cabin did have a ‘smell’ to it when the air con was on - which we turned off most of the time and tried to have the door open to refresh the air occasionally. Food was brilliant, and the chefs really looked after me with my allergies. Steps going onto the ship were challenging and Deck 5 got very slippery very easily which meant we didn’t get much walking in.
Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Brilliant, love gong out on the Zodiacs. Drivers were all excellent and we learnt much about what we were seeing.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Be flexible, expect everything to change. If you want to take photos when it’s really really cold give some thought to your gloves!
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
Always! Am already an Ambassador for the area and a Trustee for South Georgia Heritage Trust, this has renewed my enthusiasm to do what I can to spread the word about our environment and what each individual can do.
