What was your most memorable moment?
Tie for 2: 1) seeing the shoulder to shoulder penguins at St Andrew's Bay 2) sitting on our balcony in just 1 layer of clothing under a beautiful, strong sun and watching a parade of glaciers and icebergs sail by in all their blue and odd-shaped glory while eating a surprise mid-afternoon snack as the boat sailed up Charlotte Bay. Simply mesmerizing and awe inspiring!

Tell us about Zodiac excursions
They were fun and safe. I might have preferred a few less, as they are a rather passive way to get off the boat. I would have preferred more choices (you can either go with team a on a hike or team b on a ride.). But I also understand how many staff it takes to make either of these options work and recognize that it might be too logistically difficult to do that.

Superb! Knowledgeable, passionate, friendly, and very concerned for the safety of the passengers and the environment in which we were interfering.
Tell us about the Silver Cloud
Again, top notch. Our silver suite was very roomy and well appointed. The staff did an excellent job of cleaning it. The food was luxurious and plentiful. This may not be the best cruise choice for recovering alcoholics, as they pushed the alcohol, did not water down the drinks, and gave very generous pours!
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Use Swoop and Silver Seas! I’ve traveled a lot and this was by far the best travel experience of my life!
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
If I decide to do another cruise in the future, I don’t think I could do another it at a level of service below Silver Seas anymore. It completely spoiled me!
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Can you please expand into other corners of the world beyond the arctic, Antarctica, and Patagonia? I’d love to use you again for other destinations!
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
On an excitement scale of 100, we were at about 175! For preparedness, the only tip I have is that it’s really not necessary to bring hiking poles, unless you have trouble walking in general. Most of the terrain was flat and easy. The only 2 places where we needed poles, they provided the ten anyway. One spot had so much guano that I wouldn’t have wanted to put my own poles in it. The poles took up valuable luggage weight and space. We could have left the poles at home.
