What was your most memorable moment?
There was one excursion, Jenny Island, where we were excited to get off the ship and stretch our legs for a proper hike, but we came across many dead shags and a few dead elephant seals -- casualties of the avian flu. The excursion was cancelled, and in the subsequent briefing about the seriousness of avian flu, it felt like the trip took a somber turn and wouldn't have the same thrilling joy of discovery again. But the expedition team went ABOVE AND BEYOND and found us a post-dinner landing spot on Bongrain point that turned out to be my absolute favorite spot on the trip. Maybe it was just feeling like we had been gifted something that no one was expecting, or the glacier we were able to hike to, or the Adelie chicks. It definitely had something to do with that late evening light turning the icy peaks soft and luminous too. It was pure magic.

Loved it!! Penguins swam right up to us, and we were able to go 4 or 5 times!
Tell us about the Greg Mortimer
Our cabin was bigger than we expected! Hotel staff were incredible and so efficient. Food was excellent as well. I loved this ship, wish we could've used the hydraulic viewing platforms more.
Tell us about the expedition team
No idea how we got so many PhDs on our team, a Sony ambassador, someone who actually worked at the stations back in the day as the dog sledding man, and the first woman to solo circumnavigate Greenland???? Not to mention Will, the historian, whose stories I could listen to all day!! Every single expedition guide was incredible, I have so much respect for them. They worked so well as a team, which is very impressive when I realized that Antarctica is all gig work and they work with all different companies.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
More clothes for the ship sailing days. I wish I had listened to bring jeans or more comfy clothes for the ship -- I didn't realize how many sea days we would have.
