What was your most memorable moment?

So difficult to pick one - but the exquisite beauty of the landscape- especially at sunrise & sunset. I knew I would love the wildlife but was surprised at how breath-takingly beautiful the scenery would be.

Were Swoop right to recommend Polar Latitudes?

Yes

Tell us about Zodiac excursions

The zodiac excursions were great. I liked having a member of the team leading a small group of us around. It was very safe & since they always traveled in pairs - nice to have a "safety buddy." One of my favorites was essentially a tour of some icebergs or pieces of icebergs - like being in an art gallery. With the leader talking about the ice. Enchanting.

Tell us about the expedition team

Everyone of the team was fabulous, knowledgeable, & friendly. I enjoyed the lectures, but difficult to pick one. Ben's on photography were great. But I loved Will's history lectures as well. Laura's Geology and her climate one were both very good. And really liked when they answered the Questions.

Tell us about the Seaventure

Loved the ship - food was great. Loved my cabin. Absolutely would select this ship again.

Tell us about the Kayaking

I did do a discovery kayak excursion - probably did not select the best time - choppy water, and lots of sea ice. And my hands got really cold. But team always handy, so felt safe. I think I would recommend to anyone in fairly good shape.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

Do your homework before going. I had read a few wildlife guides before going, but decided not to pack the books (sadly not everything is an e-book), but wish I had taken a couple. Or gotten some of the foldable, laminated pamphlets. Bring your sense of adventure.

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

So I am a retired biologist, who worked in the area of conservation. This trip has continued to feed my soul on how important it is to try and protect the wildlife and habitat of our planet.

How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?

I was very excited to go to Antarctica- it was a dream of mine for years - and I did feel prepared.

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

I did feel there were a few times when our representative did not get back to us quickly - for instance when they were on travel, they did not have an out-of-office message - and we resent questions after a week or so. Also not always clear who to ask what.
