What was your most memorable moment?
One of our first zodiac rides we got so close to humpback whales that were feeding on krill in the area. I was able to capture such a great video!

Tell us about the expedition team
All of them were so absolutely amazing!! They're all so knowledgeable and real!! I felt like I could ask them anything! I wish I could get the same group for whenever we do an Arctic expedition!
Tell us about the Camping
Sadly we did not get to go camping. Conditions were not ideal and I'm glad our expedition leader didn't try to force it to happen. We did fill out cancellation forms for the refunds to happen, so hopefully we'll see those come through soon.
Tell us about the Kayaking
I was on the wait-list for kayaking. Unfortunately our group of 5 was not added to the list correctly. One person (Penny) got added but then a group of like 7 came before the rest of our group. I'm not sure how that happened. We were disappointed and Penny ended up cancelling as well since she didn't want to be away from the rest of our friend group. After going through Drake's Passage, I was absolutely okay with not being part of the kayaking club, though! I don't know if I would have had the energy to participate as often as I would have wanted to. I was more interested in the wildlife and was able to get just as close with the zodiac tours we did.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
If you're from a northern country that gets snow in the winter, you will absolutely not be cold! I packed way too much and was too warm walking around Antarctica most of the time!
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
I still can't believe I did it! Antarctica is so much larger than I thought it would be.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
The Swoop crew was great! I know we emailed back and forth quite a bit while planning everything. Who our contact person was changed a few times, but we were also planning this adventure for almost 2 years so that's understandable!
How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?
I was a litter nervous about Drake's Passage. I get motion sickness and came prepared with medication and other remedies. Unfortunately, I still got sick both ways, but there's not much else I could have done differently.
