Overall, how was your trip?

It seems impossible to name just one highlight, but if I must, it would be the hour or so we spent cruising amongst a group of 200 or so Humpback whales. They were so close you didn't know where to look first. We got closer to the wildlife than I expected, particularly the nesting albatross and penguins sitting on eggs. I can now tell 6 species of penguins apart! The only real surprise was when a wave hit the ship straight on the side and broke a window while we were all sitting in the lounge.

In one sentence, what did you think of Antarctica? Did it live up to your expectations?

Our Antartica expedition was truly fabulous!

Would you visit again?

Yes

How was the service that Swoop provided?

Swoop did a terrific job helping us plan and select our expedition. The Hebridean Sky was a great ship with wonderful expedition staff and crew.

You chose a/an South Georgia, Antarctica and Falklands Luxury Explorer experience. How was that experience?

The experience was just as advertised. Lots of time at each landing site for wildlife viewing and photography. I would highly recommend this trip to others. Sea days were filled with activities and lectures.

How were your experiences on the zodiac excursions and shore landings?

Zodiac excursions were well run with safety in mind. The crew and expedition staff were extremely helpful in getting those with more limited mobility on and off the zodiacs in rough seas. The wildlife - penguins, seals, birds, whales- was plentiful and a delight to watch up close. Massive icebergs and many glaciers were explored from a close but safe distance.. The expedition staff were all very experienced and highly educated in a variety of areas. The lectures, movies and impromptu discussions lead by them were a real treat. Nate Small, the expedition leader, was well organized and worked well with the ship captain to get us the best possible landing sites. Seb Coulthard and Ruth Peacey in particular were amazing as they brought their real life adventures onboard to share with us. Also Maru and Pablo did an amazing job.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

Pack less than you think - bring sea bands for rough seas - diet before going so you won't feel guilty eating all the wonderful food!
