14th Nov - 24th Nov 2017

Overall, how was your trip?

The highlight was the wildlife. We saw penguins, seals and three types of Whales. The landscape is absolutely stunning. The talks on board were very high quality and the food and wine was first class. I got a free upgrade to a double room with window. People choosing this trip were all very bright and interesting and a good mix of young and old

In one sentence, what did you think of Antarctica? Did it live up to your expectations?

The Antarctic was amazing and the cruise delivered everything promised

Would you visit again?

No

How was the service that Swoop provided?

I was perfectly satisfied with Swoop and the pre-trip support. I found the style of the trip very American and Disney which I hadn’t expected. Personally, I would not choose this style of trip again.

How likely is it that you would recommend Swoop to a friend?

You chose a/an experience. How was that experience?

The ship was much more luxurious and the food, drink and service of an extremely high quality. The staff supporting trips from the ship were of a high caliber and the lecturers well informed. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. However, I did not like the holiday camp style of the announcements and feedback events. I would need to know a person’s expectations to recommend. If you like cruises in general this is probably perfect. But I was a first time cruise traveller and they are clearly not for me.

If Swoop arranged some of your travel before/after your voyage. How did we do?

You booked flights and they were fine. The other arrangements I made myself.

How were your experiences on the zodiac excursions and shore landings?

The zodiacs were fun and very safely and efficiently organised. Drivers went to a lot of trouble to get near to wildlife and had interesting information to share. We saw orcas in front of our zodiac fairly close! Landing were quite varied and staff assisted and gave information.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

Take a reasonable amount of additional clothes for onboard time. Thin sweaters etc. You are onboard more than off. I took two lots of thick heavy waterproof trousers- great for zodiac trips which are cold but one pair would have been quite enough.

Anything else? Tell us anything you’d like to share that we forgot to ask! It’s ok to leave this empty too :-)

Maybe we will speak on the phone. Thank you for your help.
