Overall, how was your trip?

We experienced everything from close encounters with whales (while kayaking), playful penguins and seals, crumbling glaciers, to the roar of mother nature when the wind went from calm to more than 50 knots in less than five minutes. The staff was superb, and the ship and service impeccable.

In one sentence, what did you think of Antarctica? Did it live up to your expectations?

Our Antarctica experience was beyond our wildest expectations!

Would you visit again?

Yes

How was the service that Swoop provided?

Flawless service from everyone at Swoop Antarctica! Great communication with the team throughout the planning stages. Our itinerary was spelled out in detail, and all accommodations were exactly as promised. Special thanks to Alex on his recommendations on our cabin. No one handles an Antarctica expedition like Swoop Antarctica.

You chose a/an experience. How was that experience?

Our trip truly exceeded our expectations. We've been on many cruises, but the Hebridean Sky was without a doubt our favorite ship. The food was by far the best of any cruise line we've traveled on in the past. Very attentive and knowledgeable staff. On board lectures were very informative and useful.

If Swoop arranged some of your travel before/after your voyage. How did we do?

Great choice on the Hotel Cabo de Hornos in Punta Arenas. Excellent location facing the town square. When we arrived they immediately checked us into our room. When our flight to Antarctica was delayed due to weather, they extended our stay without any problems.

How were your experiences on the zodiac excursions and shore landings?

We highly recommend the kayaking to anyone making this trip. We had only kayaked once before (in Florida). The kayaking staff was so great we immediately felt at home in the water. You gain an entirely different perspective on the wildlife while in the water. Plus you will get spectacular photographs from a completely viewpoint. We still had time at the end of each kayaking excursion to also go hiking. So we had the best of both worlds.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

Traveling to Antarctica requires multiple flights, but the experience while in Antarctica is well worth the effort. We've traveled to 87 different countries, and this was without a doubt our favorite destination. Of all the cruises we've been on, we spent more time out on our balcony on this trip than all the rest combined. The scenery changes so much, you don't want to miss anything. We saw countless whales from our balcony. And icebergs of every shape imaginable. We had the Owner's Suite, and it was worth every penny.

Anything else? Tell us anything you’d like to share that we forgot to ask! It’s ok to leave this empty too :-)

My heartfelt appreciation to all the staff of Swoop Antarctica. You made what could have been a difficult journey a pleasure from the start to the finish.
