About Me

Life before Swoop

A lover of all things cold, my early career began training as a ski instructor in Canada and spending the winter in British Columbia. I’ve had the travel bug as long as I can remember. I have a real urge to go to the extreme of anywhere. Be it the most southerly, most northerly, highest point or lowest point – I find the most obscure places on a map and plan out how to get there! I’d love to get to both the North and South Poles.

My polar experience

On my first trip to the Polar Regions, I explored the Arctic’s Spitsbergen on snowmobile, travelling over 500 miles and encountering a mother polar bear with her two cubs, out on the ice. I felt so privileged to see them and have carried that memory with me ever since. I recently returned from the Arctic once again, this time exploring on board an expedition voyage. Without a doubt, the most unforgettable moment of my trip was being 30 metres from a mother polar bear and her two cubs tearing into a beluga whale carcass on a remote beach. It was truly humbling to witness.

Day to Day at Swoop

I specialise in both Antarctica and the Arctic. My day is spent helping my customers plan their trip of a lifetime, to experience first hand the splendour of the Polar Regions. Learning is another key part of each day. Polar travel is very dynamic and changes all the time, so it’s hugely important to keep my knowledge up to date. Not everyone can say they work within their passion, but I can and I never take that for granted.
