Were Swoop right to recommend Aurora Expeditions?

Yes

Tell us about Zodiac excursions

Zodiac team was great in making sure we felt safe and were very knowledgeable. Made each trip memorable.

Tell us about the expedition team

Spent most of the time with the kayak team (Russell, Anula, and Tim). They were all incredible and really made each paddle memorable. They also ensured we were always safe and were extremely knowledgable about kayaking, the wildlife, and the environment we were in. The rest of the expedition team were also great. From Mario's morning wake up announcements, to the daily lectures (Kelsey definitely needs a podcast! She is an incredible story teller), to the ongoing support as needed throughout the trip. It was also nice that the team would share meals with passengers and get to know us outside of the excursions.

Tell us about the Sylvia Earle

The crew on the ship were just amazing! They were extremely good at their jobs and made us all feel welcome from the second we stepped on the ship. They were always going above and beyond to make our trip enjoyable. The cabins had lots of storage and were comfortable. The heated bathroom floor definitely came in handy for drying gear after excursions. The food was good and they always had a great assortment. The library was nicely stocked with books and games. They also provided necessary gear for excursions (i.e. hiking poles, dry bags, dry suits) which was nice so you didn't have to bring your own). I'd definitely choose this ship again.

Tell us about the Camping

It was fun and I would recommend it to other travelers. The expedition team did a good job in preparing us for the experience and made sure we were as comfortable as we could be considering the weather. It snowed the night we went.

Tell us about the Kayaking

LOVED IT! Each paddle was another memorable experience and the guides (Russell, Anula, and Tim) were all fantastic! They really went above and beyond to ensure we felt comfortable, safe and had a good time. They were very knowledgable about kayaking, but also about the environment and wildlife we were exploring. Would definitely recommend to other travelers.

Something Else?

The Swoop team (Molly, Ali, and Isi) were incredibly helpful in making this trip happen. Thank you!

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

Have a checklist of what you want to get out of the experience to help inform the trip you plan.

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

Definitely more educated about the Antarctic and its wildlife.

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

The only opportunity is to try and consolidate the communication after booking with Aurora. It was a bit confusing about which planner to reference at times and provide the same information multiple times based on which planner or comms we were responding to.
