Tell us about Zodiac excursions

Very safe and cared for all the time. Best memory might be seeing the glacier calve from a short but safe distance away. The sound is something unreal.

Tell us about the expedition team

Yes knowledgeable. Yes friendly. But what was most remarkable was at disembarkation the expedition team lined up and so many said goodbye to us by name, hugged us or shook hands. It was the warmest, most friendly, disembarkation I have ever been a part of.

Tell us about the Seaventure

Size was perfect. We had the owner's suite, so we loved it. Food was good, but since the only option in the main dining room was a lunch bueffet, I did not like the line that formed. After a few days we learned that there was a secondary, but smaller, lunch buffet in the lounge, so this did help. I think if I did another Antarctic cruise that I might choose a newer boat that had space below for our boots and jacket. (ie. Greg Mortimer)

Tell us about the Kayaking

Excellent experience. They made it clear from the beginning that anyone could participate. This wasn't as clear to us from the brochure. It was much easier and they were more helpful than anticpated.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

Pack less! Don't worry about boots or heavy footware. Bring some nice shirts/blouses to mix into your wardrobe for dinner. Spend a night prior in Buenas Aires. Spend two nights in Ushuaia and book a harbor tour. Get home the quickest way possible! You will be gone a long time.

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

I think often about the icebergs and the solitude and am not sure how long that will last.

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

Some information was inconsistent. There was Seaventure information, Swoop information, and Polar Latitudes information made available to us (I think). We all thought we would have water bottles in our rooms based upon one piece of literature, but they were only available upon request at the reception desk. Then, some guests didn't get one and were disappointed. Somewhere I read that we could purchase unlimited internet for $100, but that was not true. However, I believe I paid $75 and never used all of that. And the Starlink was fantastic.

How prepared and excited for Antarctica did you feel?

I thought that you did a great job with the video prior to the trip, and making yourself available for any questions.
