What was your most memorable moment?
A fabulous last day of our trip was spent watching whales and leopard seals from the zodiac boats. We all peered from the decks in late afternoon warm sunshine watching the last of the boats and canoes being loaded before we set sail for Ushuaia. A large and very curious humpback whale then appeared next to the ship and cruised under, around and near us for a full twenty minutes, investigating what was going on, lifting his head out of the water. It was simply wonderful and a real privilege to have experienced wildlife and scenery that is absolutely amazing and awe inspiring, all the more so because when we disembarked, the coronavirus pandemic was tightening its grip on the world we had left almost three weeks earlier.

Tell us about the expedition team
Brilliant! A fab, experienced and knowledgable team who were patient, helpful, provided fascinating information in an easy to understand way, and were fun! They involved us in citizen science too. They worked really hard to provide us with lots of sites to visit, with plans B and C ready in case plan A was not possible or too risky. They were very security conscious and solicitous for our wellbeing at all times. Great Expedition leader in Nate Small. They

Awesome, unbelievable, fascinating,
Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Not a very good sailor , I coped fine with the excursions to shore but found the cruises at times when we could not land 'uncomfortable' so I opted to stay on board for one and enjoyed a near empty ship!

Super comfortable, far too much food (!) and a lovely captain and wonderful, mainly Filipino crew. We felt safe and very well cared for and they went to great lengths to provide us with an awesome and special experience even though they are on similar trips for months on end.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Go! Go and experience it; it is incredible and is the trip of a lifetime.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
I think I realise even more just how precious and precarious our world is and that we must cherish and care for it.
Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?
Other than the comment earlier about insurance, no! Many other fellow passengers who had booked through Swoop were very complimentary about company, as were all the expedition team. The care and concern in getting us home safely while countries were shutting their borders and airlines ceasing flights was really good. Thank you to all the team
