What was your most memorable moment?

Hard to pick one moment but the scale and beauty of South Georgia and Antarctica was beyond my expectations. One moment that comes to mind is when a humpback whale near the ship to check us out while we were at anchor in Fournier Bay. The whale surfaced, blew, rolled and hung around the ship for quite a while before moving on. The clear water made it easy to see the whale just under the surface. Many good photos adn videos were captured!

Tell us about the wildlife

What can one say other than wow. I expected to see penguins, seals, whales adn birds but the amount and variety was something. To be in the midst of hundreds of thousands of penguins in a colony is mind boggling.

Tell us about Zodiac excursions

These were fantastic. From shore excursions to cruises these were fun and allowed us to see a lot of amazing things.

Tell us about the expedition team

Very professional, well versed, informative and interesting. We learned so much and felt like we got to know them. They would join us for meals, stop by and visit as we were hanging out in the lounge and just plain interact with us as shipmates. Really cool. It was amazing the backgrounds and work that these folks have done in their careers. I signed up for kayaking (Bob) and the team that lead that were great. We got to paddle quite a bit and got t see many things from an entirely differnt perspective. Above all else, their overall focus on safety adn bio-security was inpressive.

Beautiful ship, great staterooms, fantastic food, great crew! It was also great in rough seas!

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

Definitely do The Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica. Antarctica was great but this whole package was awesome.

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

A lot more understanding of climate and the impact of change. Also, the amazing research being done in Antarctica and all of the work that has been done to help recover species that were all but extinct. I feel like our trip played a small part in adding to the collective knowledge and an understanding of what impact humans can have on the earth: both good adn bad. My (Bob) original objective was to claim my seventh continent. As an international traveler for my career, I have grown to appreciate cultures and places around the globe. I feel this trip has deepened that appreciation and understanding even more. Again, this exceeded expectations and we are both glad were were able to do this expedition.

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

You guys did it right! The whole experience of getting this booked and planned was great. The only comment that we can offer is to let folks know to carry cash and not rely on ATM's in Argentina. It is easier and cheaper to exchange USD in ARG for pesos than using the ATMs that limit withdrawals adn charge 10% for the privilege. We were able to get some cash but ended up borrowing a bit from traveling mates rather than spend to use the ATMs. I would have taken $1000 in cash had I known this. You have great information overall but this would be a good addition.
