Overall, how was your trip?

Loved everything. Being welcomed by penguins and ignored by seals was priceless. Traversing the LeMaire Strait on a clear, blue, calm day with mirror-like reflections of snowy peaks in the water was stunning. The guests on the cruise were highly compatible and the ship crew and expedition staff were wonderful.

In one sentence, what did you think of Antarctica? Did it live up to your expectations?

The grandeur of the wide open spaces and the sense of purity and peace were remarkable.

Would you visit again?

Yes

How was the service that Swoop provided?

Everything went smoothly. Voyage was wonderful.

You chose a/an Original Fly & Cruise Expedition Cruise experience. How was that experience?

Loved it; would definitely recommend to others. Flying the Drake Passage saves so much time.

If you received our guide to Santiago before you travelled, what did you think of it? For instance (but not limited to):

Did not receive it before I travelled; did not arrive til after I'd left.

If Swoop arranged some of your travel before/after your voyage. How did we do?

Swoop did not make any arrangements other than booking an extra night at the hotel.

How were your experiences on the zodiac excursions and shore landings?

The excursions and landings were so good, we always wished they could last longer. Took about a million photos and videos of penguins and about half that many of icebergs. The expedition staff generally managed to get people on and off the zodiacs in an amazingly short time.

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

A trip to a remote area always makes one pause to consider one's place in the universe. It re-awakened my commitment, and that of other guests, to care for our planet. I now want to come back and make a more extended visit to the Southern Ocean.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

Just do it. It does require a lot of travel, but you will be astounded by what you see and feel. In practical terms, it's a very casual environment so don't waste space packing dressy clothes. Bring lots of batteries for your cameras; the cold drains batteries more quickly than you'd expect and you don't want to run out of juice while you're out on excursion.

Is there anything you would recommend we change to make trips like yours more environmentally sustainable?

Don't recommend printing a lot of documents - the tour operator never requested them and gave us a separate packet of information.

Anything else? Tell us anything you’d like to share that we forgot to ask! It’s ok to leave this empty too :-)

Already visited Arctic and Patagonia, otherwise would consider going with Swoop. I will absolutely consider more Antarctic trips with Swoop, after my bank balance recovers a bit.
