What was your most memorable moment?

It's hard to choose from so many; every day I thought was the best ever but I think I will say that the zodiac across Paradise Bay with the whales right in front of us or the cruise through Spert Islands channels and the iceberg graveyard with it all set off by the amazingly blue water. Also getting to 68 degrees south was incredible!

Tell us about the wildlife

Whales, all the seals, and all the penguins...I could not ask for more from the variety and range of wildlife and the amount of time we had to to just observe them!

Tell us about Zodiac excursions

I loved all the zodiac trips; the landings were incredible too but I could do zodiacs all day every day. The zodiac across Paradise Bay and Sperg Islands were the best; we used the term white water zodiacing at Sperg and it was so much fun!

Tell us about the expedition team

They were incredible! Flo made ever day an adventures, kept us up to date on the various options for each day (everything is dependent on the weather); Dan, Frank and Eamon on the Kayak team were so knowledgeable and shared so much information; Lauren and Dot were my two favorite of the zodiac drivers and you could always count that Sergey was listening to the conversation in the boat and then changing his path from there. They really made the trip incredible. We didn't have that many lectures, as Flo said "we wish we could have done more, but you'll have to come back with bad weather" -- we had so many opportunities to be out and exploring, it was well worth the trade off! And since this was a fly-fly with no Drake Passage crossing, that time that seemed to be used for a lot of lectures wasn't available -- I think they did a lot of ad hoc knowledge transfer and I don't think we missed out on anything.

Tell us about the Greg Mortimer

I was really impressed by the ship, by the crew, by the menu options and I think all showers should come with heated floors now. Would absolutely travel on this ship again if given the chance.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

Layers! It's not as cold as you think it will be but it's not warm and layers give you options, layers of gloves too. Make sure your overpants have zippers at the ankles to go over the muck boots; mine didn't. A pair of slip on shoes makes gearing up easier; take advantage of all the floor to ceiling windows -- whales and seals just slide by when you're not expecting it! Do all the things you possibly can and be open to all the experiences, ask questions -- the expedition crew is so passionate and knows so much. The crew of the ship is incredible and they really make you feel pampered -- tip more than the baseline, they hustle and work hard.

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

I don't know that it's fully sunk in yet but it definitely reinforced my belief that the world is an amazing place and we should all see more of it.

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

I am so thankful that Molly spent the time with my group and selected Aurora and this cruise as the right one for us; given all the options and how hard it is to choose, her guidance was invaluable and now that we're back I can absolutely say that there couldn't have been a better choice for us.

Was there anything else Swoop could have done for you to help you prepare for your trip?

Everyone is dealing with the ongoing pandemic and requirement changes, I do think they did they best they could just go some things wrong.
