What was your most memorable moment?

Ice climbing; camping, especially the feeling when our zodiac pulled away and I found myself somehow connected with Shackleton and the seabirds flying overhead; seeing a dozen or more Elephant Seals woven together in the pebbles surrounded by penguins; and the sheer exhilaration of participating in the polar plunge with like-minded thrill seekers!

Which of the following best describes your adventure?

Super views of icebergs in a safe manner.

Definitely would choose the Plancius again! Cabin and food were more than ample. Excursions were fantastic.

Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?

Getting the mountaineering boots was the most difficult and expensive clothing purchase. You can rent most other gear Ushuaia although we bought ours. Also the polar plunge was much different than I had expected. Rather than a solo event, it was a group sprint into the water. I was in complete control, and chose to dive in after having gone in up to my chest-a lot of fun with the whole event caught on video for years of future fun recalling the ecstasy of the moment! If you are looking for an excursion and not a vacation, the base camp ad entire is for you!

Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?

Wanted to get a better understanding of global warming and climate change as well as see some amazing wildlife. Wetted my appetite for further exploration into mankind’s interaction with weather and whales alike. Never knew penguin poop could be such a powerful topic!

Do you have any recommendations for Swoop, or feedback about the team?

I would give more incite, information, about rental gear in Ushuaia. Mountaineering boots were a big issue, expense. Polar plunge was running into the water rather than being dropped on via a rope as I had imagined. In other agencies, we dealt with with the same person from start to finish. We like this approach better. Nevertheless, we found John, Michelle, and Saffron to be very helpful. Their efforts resulted in a phenomenal adventure for which we are truly grateful!
